The government announced Tuesday that it will conduct a survey to collect citizen comments on the coronavirus. The survey will be conducted through phone calls. Citizens will receive a “1921” phone call on their mobile phones.
The government urged citizens to participate in the poll and warned against pranksters calling from any number other than “1921”.
The survey will be conducted by the National Center for Informatics (NIC), Government of India.

“People are informed that this is a genuine survey and asked to participate to a large extent when a 1921 call is received to allow adequate feedback on the prevalence and distribution of Covid symptoms,” the report reads. statement tweeted by GDP Maharashtra.
“Consider any other calls from the pranksters or calls from any other number as a similar survey,” the statement added.
This comes at a time when the number of coronavirus cases in the country has crossed 18,000. The Ministry of Health updated the total number of coronavirus cases in India to 18,601 on Tuesday morning. The figure includes 14,759 active cases, 3,252 cured or discharged patients, and 590 deaths.
The 21-day nationwide coronavirus blockade was extended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 14. The coronavirus blockade will now end on May 3. India entered the seventh day of the extended national blockade on Tuesday.
The coronavirus pandemic has infected more than 2 million worldwide, while almost 2 lakh people have lost their lives from the deadly spread.
