The leader of Congress in Lok Sabha, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, said on Saturday that the government should prepare to receive the vice-presidential candidate of the United States, Kamala Harris, saying that she is destined to lead the oldest democracy in the world.
“#Bharat_ki_beti Kamala Harris is destined to lead the oldest democracy in the world, the United States, as vice president and likely president of that great country in the near future,” Chowdhury tweeted.

“The Government of India should prepare to receive a warm, grand and tumultuous welcome in honor of her, as an Indian we are all proud of her. Congratulations to Kamala Harris, ”he said in another tweet.
Harris was born to a Jamaican father and an Indian mother Shyamala Gopalan, who was born in Chennai before moving to the United States to continue her studies. Shyamala was a prominent cancer researcher and activist.
Harris’s maternal grandfather was born in Thulasenthirapuram, located about 200 miles south of the city of Chennai. Shyamala was the daughter of PV Gopalan, a high-ranking official.
