NEW DELHI: The Center is investigating whether election strategist Prashant Kishor took a cargo flight from Delhi to Calcutta recently during the ongoing blockade. Aviation authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from Delhi and Kolkata airports.
Meanwhile, Kishor has denied taking a flight to Calcutta during the shutdown. “We expect a report from the ongoing investigation shortly. The DGCA and the airport authorities are examining the issue, ”said an official from the aviation ministry.
Another senior aviation official said: “We have verified with the three cargo operators that have flown from Delhi for the past four days and all have confirmed that he (Kishor) has not flown on his plane. We also corroborated with CCTV images at both stations (Delhi and Kolkata airports) and, according to current information, he has not flown on cargo planes. No (air) ambulance has operated these stations during these days and that is also ruled out. ”
There have been reports that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had asked Kishor to come to the state and help formulate a strategy to counter BJP’s criticism of the crown administration of the Trinamool Congressional government (TMC) ).
