New Delhi: Finance Minister Nirmala Sithraman announced Wednesday 15 measures to help the economy recover and drive its future growth based on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of self-sufficient India.
Six of the measures correspond to one of the most affected sectors, micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), the minister said when announcing the details of the ₹20 billion fiscal stimulus packages.
The other measures aimed at providing more liquidity in the hands of individuals and companies correspond to provident funds, non-bank financing, housing financing and microfinance companies, energy distribution companies, contractors, real estate and taxes, said the minister.
Sitharaman said the reforms seek to make the country self-sufficient, not make it an isolated entity. “The intention is to make local brands and build them globally. Then there will be integration with global supply chains. Do not make India an isolated entity, “said the minister.
Starting today, over the next few days, the minister will detail the vision the prime minister presented on Tuesday, Sitharaman said.
