New Delhi:
The Center has blocked 43 mobile apps for “engaging in activities that are detrimental to the sovereignty and integrity of India, the defense of India, state security and public order.” Several apps owned by Chinese companies are among the recently banned apps, including four owned by China’s retail giant Alibaba Group.
“Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, the Government of India today issued an order under section 69A of the Information Technology Act that blocks access to 43 mobile applications,” a government statement read.
“The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has issued the order to block access to these applications by users in India based on the full reports received from the Cybercrime Coordination Center of India, Ministry of the Interior” added.
