Government Announces ‘CO-WIN’ Mobile App for COVID-19 Vaccine Delivery


NEW DELHI: The central government has introduced a new digital platform called ‘CO-WIN‘for the administration of the COVID-19 vaccine. There will also be a new mobile app with the same name that will allow people to sign up for the vaccine.
The platform will be used to record vaccine data and will also form a database of healthcare workers. All COVID-19 related data required for vaccine delivery is currently being uploaded to the CO-WIN platform.
The application will have separate modules for administrator, registration, vaccination, beneficiary recognition and reporting. Once people start signing up for the app, the platform will upload massive data on comorbidity provided by local authorities.
The CO-WIN. The app is not yet available to smartphone users and is expected to be soon. The different modules of the platform attend to the entire COVID-19 vaccination process from registration to verification.
“The vaccination module will verify the beneficiary details and update the vaccination status, while the beneficiary recognition module will send SMS to the beneficiaries and will also generate QR-based certificates after one receives the vaccine,” according to a report of PTI. The CO-WIN platform will also be used to send real-time temperature details of the storage facilities to the main servers.
