The second-generation Pixel Buds, which Google refers to as the “new Pixel Buds”, were announced in October 2019. Google promised that they would be available in “Spring 2020” and here we are. Pixel Buds 2 can be purchased starting today for $ 179, but only in one color option.
Unlike the first Pixel Buds, the second generation ones are “truly wireless”. There is no wire behind his neck connecting the two buttons. The aesthetic design is very similar to that of the first generation, but the shape is different. There is a wing to help hold the buds in the ears and a rubber tip to create a seal. In general, the Pixel Buds 2 have a more “sporty” shape that should adapt better when moving.
The new Pixel Buds still let you hear ambient noise through spatial ventilation under the buds. Google has also included “Adaptive Sound”, which dynamically increases and decreases the volume of whatever is playing based on the amount of outside noise. Dual microphones should help make clear voice calls, and an accelerometer allows the headphones to detect your voice based on vibrations in the jaw, which could help in windy conditions.
Google claims that Pixel Buds 2 can stay connected through three rooms when it’s inside and throughout an entire soccer field when it’s outside. They can last 5 hours on a single charge, with the wireless charging case providing an additional 24 hours of playback. Of course, the Google Assistant is also present, just a “Hello Google”. You can also have your notifications read out loud.
Clearly White Pixel Buds 2 is now available in the US. USA For $ 179 at Google Store, Best Buy, and more stores in the coming weeks. Almost Black, Quite Mint and Oh So Orange will not be available until the “next few months”.
