Google has announced the release of Android 11 for select Pixel phones, as well as flagship smartphone models from Xiaomi, Oppo, OnePlus, and Realme. Manufacturers are releasing final beta ROMs based on Android 11 for their individual user interfaces. The development was shared by Google on its blog, which adds that more manufacturers will release Android 11 for their devices in the coming months. Some of the phones getting the beta version include the Mi 10 series, Oppo Find X2 series, OnePlus 8 series, and more.
Google said the update brings changes to improve multitasking and give users more control over their privacy with unique app permissions. It also brings built-in screen recording to Android.
Xiaomi will release its Android 11 based global stable beta ROM for Mi 10, Mi 10 Pro and Poco F2 Pro. Oppo is launching a new Android 11 based Color OS beta for Oppo Find X2, Oppo Find X2 Pro, Oppo series Reno Ace 2 in China. In India and other regions, the Oppo Find X2 series will get the same. OnePlus has announced the beta version of OxygenOS 11 based on Android 11 for the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro. Lastly, Realme X50 Pro users will also get a preview version of Android 11.
While Xiaomi, Oppo and Realme offer the update to a limited number of users, each and every OnePlus 8 series user can download and test the OxygenOS 11 beta ROM based on Android 11. Oppo has announced that it will ship the beta update to 2000 users, while Realme only opens the program to 100 users.
Mi 10, Mi 10 Pro and Poco F2 Pro users will get the Mi Pilot MIUI Global Stable Beta ROM with MIUI 12 based on Android 11. These users will need to fill out a form on the Mi Global community website and share their numbers from IMEI, the Deadline is today, September 9. Eligible Oppo phone users in India can apply for the beta by heading to Settings > Software update, click the settings icon, tap Request the beta version and so Update beta version. Those selected will receive the update within three days. OnePlus 8 series users can download the ROM from the community website and get started.
Realme X50 Pro users will need to head to Settings > Software update, tap the settings icon in the upper right corner> Trial version > enter details> Apply now.
All of the aforementioned smartphone models will get the latest Android 11 features like Bubbles, enhanced dark mode, increased control over permissions and privacy, and more. However, the Pixel 2 and above smartphone models will get some exclusive features like ‘Live View with Shared Location on Google Maps’, ‘New Smart Reply’, some customization options and more.
