New Delhi: Doordarshan has seen a massive jump in its PRTs since it began broadcasting epic shows ‘Ramayan’ by Ramanand Sagar and ‘Mahabharat’ by BR Chopra. The fact that they kept adding and retrieving old shows like ‘Circus’, ‘Rajni’ ‘Byomkesh Bakshi’ and ‘Shaktiman’ has only made the public happy amid the national blockade to fight the deadly outbreak of new coronaviruses. And now, another epic show from the 90s: Shri Krishna is about to reappear on our television screens.

Yes! The good news was shared on the official Twitter account of Doordarshan National and Prasar Bharti.

Ramanand Sagar’s ‘Shri Krishna’ originally aired between 1993 and 1996. It was still one of the most-watched shows in the 1990s. It was first broadcast on the Doordarshan Metro Channel (DD 2) since 1993. And then again in 1996, DD National aired it from the start.

Interestingly, in 1999, the epic television show aired on Zee TV and the remaining episodes aired on it. Later, in 2001, the show aired again on Sony and Star, such was the popularity of this epic saga.

Sarvadaman D. Banerjee played Krishna and Vishnu, Swapnil Joshi became a household name after playing young Lord Krishna, Ashok Kumar Balkrishnan as young Krishna, Deepak Deulkar was seen as Balram and Shesha, Pinky Parikh played Rukmini / Yamuna / Lakshmi / Durga and Reshma Modi were seen as Radha respectively.

So get ready to witness the epic unfold once again!
