JAMUI: Ace’s shooter, Shreyasi Singh, made a successful election debut on a BJP ballot on Tuesday, snatching the Jamui assembly seat from RJD MLA Vijay Prakash, Election Commission sources said.
Singh, who is a gold medalist shooter at the Commonwealth Games, defeated Prakash by a staggering margin of more than 41,000 votes, the sources said.
He got 79,156 votes, while Prakash, who has represented the seat more than once, got just 38,147.
The 27-year-old is the daughter of former Union Minister Digivijay Singh, a former associate of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar with whom she broke up towards the end of her life. His mother, Putul Kumari, had won a seat at the Banka Lok Sabha on a BJP ticket in 2014.
In particular, Lok Janshakti Party Chairman Chirag Paswan, who had withdrawn from the NDA just before the assembly elections, congratulated Singh on his decision to take the political step and declared the full support of his cadres. match.
