Passengers with a confirmed Indian Railways electronic ticket will not have to show an electronic pass, the Interior Ministry said. Indian Railways will run 15 pairs of passenger trains with AC coaches and limited stops beginning May 12 amid the COVID-19 blockade.
The joint secretary of the Union’s Interior Ministry, Punya Salila Srivastava, said on Monday that passengers with confirmed electronic tickets do not need an electronic pass and will be allowed to reach railway stations without problems.
The Ministry of Railways has made it mandatory for all passengers to download and use the Aarogya Setu app. Sheets, blankets and curtains will not be provided inside the train. Passengers must bring their own bedding for the trip.
At a press conference here, Srivastava said that Railways will operate passenger trains from May 12 from New Delhi to 15 stations and that the Home Office issued Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) under the Disaster Management Law for the schedule of trains and confirmation or cancellation of the reservation.
