Give more time to fuel labels, HSRP before fining people, Delhi HC suggests to AAP government | Delhi News

NEW DELHI: Delhi’s high court suggested on Thursday to the AAP government to give people more time to get color codes fuel stickers and High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) before he starts fining them Rs 5,500 for violations.
A bench of judges Siddharth Mridul and Talwant Singh said that the Delhi government should not create panic among citizens, which would cause some people to take advantage of the situation.
The court also said that announcing the requirement for stickers and HSRP by the Delhi government in August this year “was not the ideal time.”
The court was hearing a PIL from the president of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee, Anil Kumar, alleging that Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) were overcharging for the color-coded and HSRP fuel stickers that have been made mandatory for vehicles in the national capital.
Attorney Sunil Fernandes, appearing on behalf of Kumar, told the court that Challan’s campaign by the Delhi government has created a psychosis of fear in the minds of people struggling to obtain the stickers and the HSRP not to have to face the fine.
Government of Delhi, represented by an additional permanent attorney Satyakam, he told the bank that it has nothing to do with setting the fee for the stickers and HSRP and that he was only concerned with implementing the Supreme Court instructions that all vehicles must have HSRP and stickers.
