GHMC polls: ‘only Trump left’, Owaisi investigates BJP campaign

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) campaign for the upcoming election is getting some interesting feedback. The local body election is scheduled for December 1.

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Asaduddin Owaisi said on Saturday that he mocked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), saying they have deployed so many leaders to campaign “as if we were electing a prime minister.” .

“It does not look like a Hyderabad election, it is as if we are choosing a Prime Minister instead of Narendra Modi. I was at a rally in Karwan and said everyone had been called here, one boy said they should have called Trump too. He was right, only Trump (the president of the United States, Donald Trump) remains, ”Owaisi said while campaigning for his party’s candidate, according to the ANI news agency.

The GHMC election is witnessing a triangular contest between the ruling party in the state, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), AIMIM and BJP, which recently won the seat of the Dubbak Assembly in the recently concluded by-elections.

The BJP is running hectic election campaigns in the city and has attracted several high-profile leaders. Uttar Pradesh Prime Minister Yogi Adityanath, Union Ministers Prakash Javadekar, Smriti Irani and Party Chairman JP Nadda have campaigned for the BJP in Hyderabad.

Elections for the 150-member GHMC are scheduled for December 1 and the vote count will take place on December 4.

The campaign for the civic body polls ends on Sunday.

Interior Minister Amit Shah will be on tour today, the last day of the campaign, calling on the people of Hyderabad to vote for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
