India’s 1983 World Cup winner captain Kapil Dev suffered a health problem on Friday and had to be rushed to a hospital in New Delhi. Kapil Dev underwent angioplasty on Friday after complaining of chest pain and is expected to be discharged in the next few days, the hospital where he is admitted said.

After the news broke, several key members of the cricket fraternity took to social media to wish a speedy recovery for the Indian legend. India’s captain Virat Kohli tweeted on Friday: “Praying for his speedy recovery. Get well soon paaji. @therealkapildev, ”Kohli tweeted.
In addition to Sachin and Kohli, several other former Indian cricket stars, including Irfan Pathan, Suresh Raina and Gautam Gambhir, took to Twitter to wish Kapil Dev a speedy recovery. “My prayers are with you. Hope you recover soon #Kapildev paji” wrote Irfan Pathan. Suresh Raina tweeted: “I wish you a speedy recovery @therealkapildev sir. Take care of yourself and God bless you. “
“Wishing @therealkapildev good health and a speedy recovery. Take care sir! ”Wrote cricketer-turned-politician Gautam Gambhir.
Expressing similar sentiments, Sachin Tendulkar tweeted: “Take care @therealkapildev! Praying for your speedy recovery. Get well soon Paaji. “
The head of the hospital earlier issued a statement in which they had said that the former captain of India is expected to be discharged within two days. Former Indian Cricket captain Kapil Dev, 62, arrived at the emergency department at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute (Okhla Road) at 1:00 am on October 23 with a complaint of chest pain.

“He was evaluated and Dr. Atul Mathur, Director of the Department of Cardiology, performed an emergency coronary angioplasty in the middle of the night. He is currently admitted to the ICU and is under the close supervision of Dr. Atul Mathur and his team. Kapil Dev is stable now and is expected to be discharged in a couple of days, “the hospital said in a statement.
Indian Cricketers Association (ICA) President Ashok Malhotra, a friend of Kapil, previously told PTI that the iconic cricketer is fine.
“It feels good now. I just spoke with his wife (Romi). Yesterday he was uncomfortable. At the moment he is being subjected to controls in a hospital, ”said Malhotra, also a former Test player.
