The Galaxy S21 may be Samsung’s first Android flagship product line to miss out on a pair of high-quality AKG headphones that have always been complimentary, but everyone will be glad if that actually happens. According to a new report from South Korea, Samsung is currently considering ditching the AKG tradition in favor of combining all models in the Galaxy S21 series with the Galaxy Buds Beyond.
For the uninitiated, that’s the rumored name for the Galaxy Buds Plus sequel. Although “rumored” may not be entirely accurate, “likely” is what it actually is, given the fact that Samsung has already filed the trademark with the name. And it’s extremely rare to see the tech giant not following up on such a move with a commercial product. But don’t let that distract you from the fact that the Galaxy S21 series devices might be bundled with a $ 150-plus pair of wireless headphones.
Not to mention how big this statement would be just a few months after the release of the iPhone 12 without headphones, charger or anything, really. Which was so ridiculous that even Samsung couldn’t resist the call of the memes.
Combining Galaxy S21 with wireless headphones would be unprecedented
Just for valuable context, that “forever” mentioned above actually means “four years ago” so it’s not that big of a tradition anyway. Namely, Samsung has only been packing its high-end smartphones with AKG-tuned earphones since it bought the Austrian company’s parent company, Harman International Industries, in early 2017. So, starting with the Galaxy S8 range.
This would be an unprecedented move because all customers will be able to get the wireless headphones with the next flagship. Samsung has been offering new wireless earbuds with its flagship Galaxy S and Galaxy Note products for the past few years. However, they are only offered as a booking incentive.
If you need more time to make a decision or need to delay the purchase for any reason beyond the pre-order period, you will not get them. Some markets didn’t get the headphones as a pre-order incentive at all, so they will benefit as well.
If the Galaxy S21 series comes with the Galaxy Buds Beyond in the box, it will allow all customers to get them regardless of when they buy the device. This will also mean that Samsung will offer something else as a booking incentive. Game packs seem to be her go-to gift these days.
The final word on the street is that the Galaxy S21 family will launch in mid-January, which means it should already be available for purchase in early February.
