The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) -Ahmedabad has become the top-level B school in the country, according to the Financial Times Masters in Management 2020 ranking. IIM-A is ranked 20th followed by IIM-Calcutta ranked 21st There are a total of five Indian institutes in the international top 100. Apart from IIM-Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Kolkata which are the best B schools in India, IIM-Udaipur and SP Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR) have also held positions in top management schools internationally.
Even though Indian institutes have achieved good ranks, their performance has declined compared to last year. Last year’s top ranking Indian school – IIM-C was at rank 17 followed by IIM-A at rank 21. IIM-C has dropped to rank 21 and the second best B-India school. This year only five institutes are classified by FT Ranking. Last year, IIM-Indore ranked 81st.

The best management institute this year was the University of St Gallen in Switzerland, with its master’s degree in international strategy and management. In second place was HEC Paris with a Master of Management course. While the top two positions remain the same as last year. In 2019, Essec Business School and London Business School jointly shared 3rd place, however this year Essec took over London and was ranked 3rd, while LBS is 4th. France and the UK had three countries each in the top 10 and none from the US.
