New Delhi:
Front-line health and medical workers can no longer register for COVID-19 vaccination, the Health Ministry said today. He said the move is to ensure that vaccine coverage is expanded rapidly to include more categories of people, such as those over 45, as front-line health and medical workers already have first priority and time. enough to get vaccinated.
Some ineligible beneficiaries in these two categories have been found to add their names and get vaccinated in violation of the guidelines, the Health Ministry said in the order.
Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said registration of people over the age of 45 will continue on the CoWIN website and called on Union states and territories to ensure prompt vaccination of healthcare workers and first-line doctors who have already registered.
When vaccination began in the country in January, there were reports of some front-line medical and health care staff who were hesitant to receive the vaccine. They were later asked to get vaccinated, as they would not have another chance later. Doctors and other health professionals were the first categories to be vaccinated in the country.
“Every effort has been made in close collaboration with the states / UTs to saturate vaccination for healthcare workers and PDAs. While progress is being tracked, the timeline for completing the vaccination of all healthcare workers and PDAs with The first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine has been extended several times and elapsed since these deadlines and even after starting the vaccination of the population over 60 years of age, it was decided to register and vaccinate HCWs and PDAs with a view to ensuring coverage optimal, “said the Secretary of Health in the letter, referring to health workers (TS) and front-line medical workers (PDA).
“Various contributions have been received from different sources that in some of the CVCs (Covid vaccination centers), some ineligible beneficiaries are being registered as TS and PDA and are being vaccinated in total violation of prescribed guidelines. There has been an increase in 24% in the HCW database in the last few days. This issue was discussed with state representatives and domain knowledge experts … It was decided that new registrations in HCW and PDA categories will not be allowed with immediate effect, “said the Secretary of Health.
