France is ready to collaborate with the Uttar Pradesh government on its ambitious plans to develop sustainable cities, defense industry and aerospace, said French Ambassador Emmanuel Lenain.
Ambassador Lenain’s comments came after he paid a courtesy visit to Prime Minister Adityanath on Wednesday.
In a tweet, the prime minister said: “We had a fruitful discussion about strengthening ties between France and India and creating the association to harness the enormous potential of Uttar Pradesh.”
For his part, the ambassador tweeted: “Excellent meeting with UP CM Yogi Adityanath. Very impressed by the dynamism of UP. “
Adityanath responded by saying: “I had a wonderful meeting with Emmanuel Lenain, French Ambassador to India.”
Describing his first visit to Lucknow as splendid, the ambassador said he was in town to promote new partnerships between France and Uttar Pradesh.
“UP is young, dynamic and talented. We want to welcome more UP students to France and for more French companies to invest in UP, ”he said in another tweet.
The ambassador praised the Alliance Francaise de Lucknow (AFL) and said the center was very important to the French government.
“The Alliance Française of Lucknow is the youngest in India, but already very active thanks to its dynamic team and president Zohra Chatterji. Learning French opens the doors to interesting work and study opportunities ”, said the ambassador.
Speaking at a reception held in his honor in Lucknow on Wednesday, the ambassador said he was impressed with the dynamism and enormous potential in the UP state and that the embassy will be fully supportive of its activities.
He added that learning and teaching the French language was very important and useful in starting a business collaboration with France.
On the occasion, memoranda of understanding (MoU) were signed between the Alliance Francaise of Lucknow and partner organizations, for the promotion of French language and culture, said AFL Director Prof Meeta Ghosh.
A memorandum of understanding between AFL and FICCI was signed by Amit Gupta, who is the director of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce Industry of India, UP State Council. Through this memorandum of understanding, AFL will expand its support for Indian companies by honing their language skills for better collaboration with French companies and also appreciating French-speaking culture.
The second MoU was signed between AFL and Mohammed Abdullah, the managing director of Hotel Lebua, which supports the AFL through various collaborative programs. It is the only heritage hotel in Lucknow that spreads awareness of French culture and cuisine by offering visitors the luxury of living life the French way.
The third MoU was signed between AFL and Professor Kum Kum Ray, director of the Amity School of Languages and founding director of Amity University, a leading institution in the city, with an international presence.
“Under the MoU, AFL will support the teaching and updating of French language skills for French teachers and students,” Ghosh said.
