Free mask and 200 rupee fine for Covid rule breakers


In an attempt to control the coronavirus Rise, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) announced Sunday that a mask will be provided to people caught without a mask in public places.

It is okay not to wear mask in public places in Mumbai it is 200 rupees. However, it is observed that those surprised without a mask would pay the penalty and would continue to repeat the same error. So, BMC boss Iqbal Chahal issued an order Sunday mentioning that BMC will aggressively fine people outdoors without a face mask and then provide them with a free mask. The purpose is to educate people on the need to wear a mask when outdoors, the civic body said.

Meanwhile, the BMC has so far collected a fine of around Rs 10,07,81,600 crore by taking action against 4,85,737 citizens found without masks.

From time to time, various steps have been taken in the interest of citizens to control the pandemic, BMC said. The civic body has instructed officials to ensure that people abide by the rule of wearing masks when outside and take strict measures against those without them. A free mask will be awarded to those who will be fined for not wearing a mask and the receipt of the corresponding fine will include a mention of the free mask provided by BMC.

Meanwhile, Chahal had called a meeting in October and ordered punitive measures against citizens who walk without masks and spit in public places. BMC had made wearing a mask mandatory in public since the first week of April and has also imposed fines since then for violating the order.
