NEW DELHI: Four AAP MLAs, including Raghav Chadha, were arrested on Sunday while on their way to hold a protest outside the home of Interior Minister Amit Shah, here, a day after the party alleged the misappropriation of million rupees by municipal corporations governed by the BJP. and demanded a CBI probe.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has alleged the misappropriation of more than 2.4 billion rupees in the municipal corporations of North Delhi and South Delhi, and had announced that it would organize protests in front of the residences of Shah and Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal. from Sunday until the investigation is ordered.

AAP’s Raghav Chadha and nine other people were detained on Sunday as they headed to the residence of the Union Interior Minister for a protest, a senior police officer said.
“They were detained and taken to the Rajender Nagar Police Station. They had previously requested permission for a protest, which was rejected by the police in view of the DDMA (Covid-19) guidelines,” the official said.
Earlier, in a letter to Chadha, the police had said that they are denying permission for the protest in view of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) guidelines which state that all social, academic, sports, entertainment functions , cultural, religious and political or other gatherings are prohibited until December 31 in all of Delhi to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
“Furthermore, the enactment of Section 144 CrPC is already in effect in the New Delhi district area,” the letter to Chadha read from the New Delhi district police deputy commissioner office.
Chadha said they were going to protest against the “biggest scam” of the municipal corporations led by the BJP. “But we were arrested in our residences. Does Amit Shah want to bury this corruption using the Delhi police?” Rajender Nagar MLA said.
The other three lawmakers who were detained are Burari MLA Sanjeev Jha, Kirari MLA Rituraj Jha and Kondli MLA Kuldeep Kumar, police said.
The AAP has been alleging that there is a misappropriation of more than 2.4 billion rupees by the BJP-led North Delhi Municipal Corporation with the amount it had taken from the South Delhi Municipal Corporation.
The accusation has been refuted by the BJP.
