Former teammates and cricketers wish Kapil Dev a speedy recovery after a heart attack

The news that the former captain of India, Kapil Dev, suffered a heart attack, has shocked everyone. It is also known for sure that he had the attack in the morning and was hospitalized. He is currently stable now after undergoing surgery. Dev, 61, is a name synonymous with Indian cricket. It was with Kapil that India took that big step to become a cricket powerhouse by winning the 1983 World Cup, beating the odds against the mighty West Indies in the final. Meanwhile, best wishes for Dev have reached social media.

MP Shashi Tharoor said: “Concerned to learn that the legendary #KapilDev has suffered a heart attack and is in hospital. His powerful heart won many battles for India. We wish him the best to win this one too.”

During an illustrious 16-year career, Dev played 131 tests and 225 ODIs and is considered one of the best all-rounders the game has seen alongside great contemporaries like Imran Khan, Ian Botham and Richard Hadlee.

Scored 5248 test runs on 05/31 and claimed 434 wickets at 29.64. At ODI, Dev, primarily a bowling all-rounder, made 3,783 runs at 23.79 and took 253 wickets at 27.45. His eight centuries of testing attest to his hitting credentials. His 175 not out against Zimbabwe in a Group B match at the 1983 World Cup is considered by many to be ODI’s best inning of all time.
