A member of the Bureau of Narcotics Control (NCB) team investigating the drugs angle in the case of actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death tested positive for coronavirus on Wednesday, after which questioning of the former manager was postponed. of the actor, Shruti Modi, an official said.
Shruti Modi arrived at the OCN office in South Mumbai around 10 am to be questioned by the Special Investigation Team (SIT).
But, before the investigation team could begin recording its statement, the NCB received a report that one of its SIT members tested positive for coronavirus, the official said.
The SIT member’s antigen test came back positive, he said, adding that other members of the probe team will also be tested and all protocols will be followed.
“Consequently, we sent back Shruti Modi, who had joined the investigation in the morning,” he said.
On Tuesday, the NCB asked Shruti Modi and Sushant Singh Rajput’s talent manager Jaya Saha to join in its investigation to get a better idea of some aspects of the case. Jaya Saha will now be called back later, the official said.
So far, the main drug enforcement agency has arrested 18 people, including Sushant Rajput’s friend and actress Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik Chakraborty.
Earlier, Shruti Modi and Jaya Saha’s statements were recorded by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is separately investigating Sushant’s death case.
They were also questioned by the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) and the Mumbai Police in connection with cases related to the investigation into the actor’s death.
Jaya Saha’s conversations with Rhea Chakraborty had come to light during the ED’s questioning, the official added.
Sushant Singh Rajput (34) was found hanging in his apartment in Mumbai suburban Bandra on June 14.
