Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was admitted to AIIMS on Sunday night after he complained of chest pain. The veteran congressional leader is currently under observation at the ICU by the institute’s Cardio-Thoracic Sciences Center (CTVS) unit. Read in Malayalam

Singh, 87, checked in with Dr. Nitish Naik, a professor of cardiology at the institute, around 8:45 p.m. According to sources, doctors are examining his condition. “He is under observation and the examination continues,” said a hospital doctor.

Singh is currently a deputy of Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan. Rajasthan Prime Minister Ashok Gehlot took to Twitter to express concerns about the former Prime Minister’s health. “I am very concerned to learn that former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh ji has been admitted to AIIMS. I wish him a speedy recovery and I pray for his good health and long life, ”Gehlot tweeted.
