In a surprising development, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut met former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at a hotel in Mumbai on Saturday (September 26). The meeting between the two leaders lasted about 2 hours.
The meeting between Fadnavis and Raut caused quite a stir in the political circle in Maharashtra with some asserting that something big will soon happen in Maharashtra politics. However, BJP Maharashtra spokesperson Keshav Upadhye tweeted that the meeting between two senior leaders was not political in nature. He added that the former CM from Maharashtra met with Saamana’s executive editor, Shiv Sena’s spokesperson, for an interview.
According to Upadhye, during the meeting, Fadnavis told Raut to stream the interview without editing. The BJP leader said the date for the interview has been set and Raut and Fadnavis are now discussing the format of the interview. Fadnavis is expected to sit down for the interview with Raut after the Bihar elections are completed in November. In particular, Fadnavis is the BJP manager for the Bihar Assembly survey. Fadnavis will become the second non-Shiv Sena leader after CPN Supreme Sharad Pawar to be interviewed by Saamana.

Raut has been one of the most vocal critics of BJP since the two former allies parted ways on a variety of issues including: Ram mandir, Metro car shed, NRC, CAA, Farm Bills, COVID-19 handling, investigation of death of Sushant Singh Rajput. and Kangana Ranaut’s attack on the Mumbai police.
However, it should be noted that Raut had praised Fadnavis for effectively playing his role as leader of the opposition. Fadnavis also criticized CM Uddhav Thackeray of Maharashtra for failing to handle the COVID-19 crisis effectively, dismissing the Gram Panchayat polls amid the pandemic and various other problems.
