Rohit Sharma, who was recently ruled out of the India to Australia tour due to injury, took the field for the Mumbai Indians in their final 2020 IPL league match on Tuesday, raising some eyebrows. Former India captain Dilip Vengsarkar, who was also the head coach, questioned the Mumbai Indians skipper’s participation in the IPL and asked if the league was more important than representing the country. “Now the question here is, is the IPL more important to him than playing for India? Is the club more important than playing for the nation for him? Will the BCCI make a decision on this? Or is the BCCI’s physio hesitated “to correctly diagnose Rohit’s injury,” Vengsarkar said according to the Times of India.

Rohit was declared unfit for the Australian tour after sustaining a hamstring injury during IPL 2020, however shortly after the squads were named, he returned to the nets and then played a game, which raised questions about why he was not included in the Indian squads.

Rohit missed a few games for MI before taking the field in Sharjah against SunRisers Hyderabad.

India is scheduled to tour Australia later this month for a full-blown tour.

The tour will kick off with a three-game one-day international series, starting on November 27.

The ODI series will be followed by three Twenty20 Internationals and then both teams will compete in a four-game test series, including a day and night meet at the Adelaide Oval.
