Police arrested Satvinder Singh, a former MLA from the Rajaund constituency in the Kaithal district of Chandigarh on Wednesday night for his alleged involvement in the theft of liquor from a sealed shelter in Samalkha.
Satvinder Singh had contested the 2019 Assembly elections for the Kalayat constituency in the Kaithal district on a Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) ticket. Deputy Haryana CM Dushyant Chautala is considered close.
Singh was arrested from Sector 3 in Chandigarh, near the MLA shelter, said SP Manisha Chaudhary.
A criminal team from the Panipat police, under the supervision of the DSP (Crime) Rajesh Phogat, caught the former Chandigarh MLA on Wednesday night. The team had informed Sector 3 police in Chandigarh of their raid.
Defendant Satvinder Rana had been arrested for revealing another defendant, Ishwar Singh from Shamri village, Sonepat district, who was arrested along with five other defendants in a case registered at the Samalkha police station on May 10 added the SP.
The case was registered in the complaint of Rajesh Rohilla, AETO of the Department of Special Taxes, on April 28.
In particular, the CIA-2 district police team arrested six people, including mastermind Ishwar Singh, on Sunday night, allegedly for stealing liquor from a sealed shelter in Samalkha de Panipat.
It was revealed that 4,500 cases of liquor had been stolen from Ishwar during interrogation, and Ishwar and former MLA Satvinder Rana were partners in the L1-AB shelter in Samalkha, which was sealed by the Department of Excise and Taxation in 2016. after some irregularities found on the godown
During the investigation it was revealed that the owners of the ship had allegedly stolen the liquor cases along with their co-defendants.
“One of the accused, Agent Ajmer, who was arrested earlier on the matter, has been fired by the Jhajjar police after his arrest,” said SP Manisha Chaudhary.
“I have also been asked to verify the connection of the accused arrested in the Samalkha case with the accused Bhupender Singh of Sisana, who has been arrested by the Sonepat police, allegedly in connection with the theft of liquor from a sealed fall in Kharkhoda of Sonepat. ” The SP maintained.
Satish Vats, DSP Headquarter, said the CIA-2 team produced the former MLA in court on Thursday and requested three days of police detention for further investigation. The court allowed two days of police custody at the request of the police, he added.
