Former Chhattisgarh Prime Minister Ajit Jogi, who was admitted to a private hospital in Raipur after suffering cardiac arrest, went into a coma on Sunday. According to a senior doctor at Sree Narayana Hospital, the neurological activity of the congressional leader is “almost nil” and is currently on ventilator support.
“Your heart is functioning normally at this time. Blood pressure has been controlled by drugs. But there was a disruption in the supply of oxygen to his brain after yesterday’s respiratory arrest, possibly causing damage to his brain. In medical parlance it is called hypoxia, “said the hospital’s medical director, Dr. Sunil Khemka, in a bulletin.
“As of now, Jogi’s neurological activity is almost nil. In simple words, we can say that he has fallen into a coma. He is on the ventilator. We are making every effort to improve his health, but the situation is worrying in the actuality ”, he added.
The medical director also said that Jogi is being treated by a team of eight specialist doctors who will assess the patient’s response to the drugs in the next 48 hours.
The congressional leader fell unconscious at his residence on Saturday morning.
According to a health bulletin released by the hospital on Saturday, a high-level intensivist gave Jogi cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) at his residence before he was transferred to the hospital. “He was admitted at 12:30 pm Saturday after collapsing while in his home garden … his ECG and pulse rate have returned to normal … But his breathing is still not normal. He is on a respirator and his condition it is critical, ”said the hospital.
Jogi and Kota MLA’s wife Renu Jogi and son Amit are with the 74-year-old leader at the hospital.
In a social media post, Amit appealed to pray for his father’s recovery. “Along with the medicines, he now needs the good wishes and prayers of 2.5 million Chhattisgarh residents.”
Jogi is also the founder of the Janta Congress Chhattisgarh (J) and is the MLA holder of the Marwahi constituency.
