MUMBAI: The criminal branch of Mumbai Police on Thursday he arrested a former executive director of the Pune district Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) in the bogus TRP scam, an official said.
Partho Dasgupta, the defendant, is the fifteenth person arrested in the case related to the alleged tampering with the Television Rating Points (PRT) TV channels.
He was detained by the Criminal Intelligence Unit (CIU) of the jurisdiction of Rajgad Police Station in the Pune district and will be presented in court here on Friday, the official said.
Previously, the CIU had arrested the former chief operating officer (COO) of BARC Ramil Ramgarhia in the case, among others.
The Mumbai police launched the investigation after BARC, a rating agency, filed a complaint of TRP tampering through some channels.
TRP, measured by recording audience data in sample households, is crucial as it helps television channels attract advertisers.
It was alleged that some of these households were being bribed to tune in to certain channels and increase their TRP.
