Patna:
One day when Gupteshwar Pandey resigned as Bihar’s chief of police, a music video dubbing him the “Robin Hood of Bihar” debuted online and quickly became a hit.
The video stars the former police officer as the lone hero, calling him the man who “got justice” for Sushant Singh Rajput. If you plan to contest Bihar’s elections, as reports suggest, and go for the “crusader police” creed, the video nails it, many would say.
The only other star is Deepak Thakur, singer, lyricist and songwriter for the song. A contestant on Bigg Boss, Thakur is best known for his number from the movie “Gangs of Wasseypur.”
The release of the video was scheduled for Pandey’s voluntary retirement from the Indian Police Service on Tuesday.
In the four-minute video, the former chief cop shows off his stuff in his uniform and puts on his glasses, straightens his badge, signs the files and smiles in the mirror, Singham style. One shot has a tiger transforming into the former officer.
With the sound of gunshots and sirens, the video describes the officer as a “hero of Janata ka” and the nemesis of the bad guys.

The highlight of the video is the part of Sushant Singh Rajput, the Bollywood star whose death left thousands of his fans in shock, sparked social media campaigns and turned into a political controversy in Bihar, his home state.
“Superstar from Sushant, you were Bihar’s treasure … DGP came, faced attacks, but brought the case to the CBI. (DGP) is the pride of the nation …”, sings Deepak Thakur.
Criminals have never been so scared, says the song.
In the final frames, the former chief of police changes his uniform for the all-black casual look he wore today at his first press conference after resigning.
Although he declined to reveal his plans for the time being, Pandey made it clear that politics are on the table. He also did not rule out contesting the Bihar elections, which will be held in weeks, claiming that people from various districts would come to meet him and that he would follow his advice on how to serve society.
The video has been viewed 69,000 times and has received more than 10,000 likes since it appeared on YouTube.
