Continuing the trend of positive recovery, India recorded more daily recoveries than the number of new cases for the fifth consecutive day, in the same time frame. The change in trend began on September 19, when India was reporting around 90.00 daily cases of Covid-19. On September 19, the number of recoveries exceeded 95,000.
In recent days, the number of daily fresh boxes has dropped and from the 90,000 mark it has settled at the 80,000 mark, making an exception on September 22, when India recorded the lowest daily case of 75,083.

“We are swayed by the narrative that India has more than 50 lakh of cases, but we forget that nearly 45 lakh of people have already recovered,” Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said Tuesday.
When the number of recoveries exceeds the number of active cases, it is seen as an indication of “flattening the curve” globally. But the trend has to continue for several days before the curve can be said to have flattened out.
In June, when the 1.0 unlock was announced, the number of recoveries exceeded active Covid-19 cases. From time to time, hotspot states like Delhi, Kerala also achieved more recoveries than active case numbers. But the trend did not continue for long.
