WITH mounting evidence linking Mumbai police officer arrested Sachin waze On the alleged murder of businessman Mansukh Hiran, the National Investigative Agency (NIA) – investigating the Mukesh Ambani bomb scare case – is veering towards the conclusion that Hiran may have been killed after Waze “panicked “That the investigation was being taken away from him and he could turn himself in to the Central agency, the sources said.
Although the NIA has yet to receive the report of the final forensic analysis performed on Hiran’s body, the agency believes the owner of the auto décor store was suffocated and not strangled, the sources said.
Hiran was reportedly in possession of the Mahindra Scorpio that was found outside Ambani’s home in Mumbai on February 25 with jelly sticks and a threatening note. According to the NIA, Waze had taken Hiran’s car away before allegedly planting the explosives and parking the car in front of the industrialist’s home.
“Hiran’s entrails report is yet to come. However, based on the prima facie evidence, it appears that Hiran was suffocated. His post-mortem report has not specified the cause of death. There are no ligature marks, so strangulation does not appear to be the cause of death. When his body was pulled out of the Kalwa stream in Thane (on March 5), several tissues were removed from his mouth, ”said an officer familiar with the details of the investigation.
Investigations so far have pointed to how, days before the bomb incident, Hiran allegedly handed over the car keys to Waze and then filed a car theft case with the police.
While Waze has continued to deny its involvement in Hiran’s murder, sources said, there is growing evidence against him.
“There is enough evidence in the form of call data records, location of the people involved and other electronic fingerprints that link Waze and its associates to the crime. We are also trying to recover data from electronic devices recovered from the bed of the Mithi River, ”said the officer.
Sources said the agency found that after the bomb incident, Waze was pressuring Hiran to acknowledge the crime. “The Opposition had begun to pressure the government to transfer the case to the NIA. There were also whispers about the case that made its way to Mumbai ATS. With Hiran not agreeing to confess, Waze panicked. We are now trying to establish whether Waze was present at the crime scene when Hiran was killed, ”the officer said.
Meanwhile, the NIA is conducting a forensic examination of the Mitsubishi Outlander it recovered from Navi Mumbai on Tuesday. The car is registered to Waze.
The NIA has already impounded five vehicles in connection with the case and arrested three people, including Waze.
