Fans on Twitter have filed certain allegations of correction in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) after a deleted tweet from Mumbai Indians (MI) sparked controversy on the internet. The Mumbai Indians took on the Delhi Capitals (DC) in match 27 of the 2020 IPL on Sunday at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

By winning the toss, Delhi Capitals chose to hit first. Ajinkya Rahane replaced the injured Rishabh Pant, while Alex Carey entered the squad in place of Shimron Hetmeyer. Batting first, Delhi Capitals scored 162 runs in the first innings for losing 4 wickets in his 20 overs. Their star starter, Shikhar Dhawan broke a wonderful half century to lead his team to a respectable total.

The Mumbai Indians pursued the goal in a very comfortable position, as Quinton de Kock and Suryakumar Yadav scored a decent half century for the four-time IPL champions.

All franchises, regardless of their performance on the field, have been absolutely wonderful off the field at this year’s IPL. The franchises have been quite active on social media and have used the platforms quite well in terms of generating engagement among their fans.

However, on Sunday, a tweet from the official Mumbai Indians account sparked accusations of settlement at the IPL and fans again pointed to the entire tournament.

Within minutes of the clash, the Mumbai Indians posted a tweet indicating the Delhi Capitals’ final score at the end of the first inning and, to the surprise of many fans, both scores were perfectly similar. The Mumbai Indians tweet stated that DC will finish 163/5 on their innings and surprisingly DC finished 162-4.

Now the tweet is nowhere to be found on the internet. However, fans were quick enough to take screenshots and share them on the online platform, sparking controversy after the game. Mumbai Indians won the game by 5 wickets and has now placed at the top of the 2020 IPL points table.

However, the IPL governing council and BCCI may have to answer on behalf of the franchise in the coming days, as this plot could soon turn into one of the defining moments in the tournament’s history.
