Five paramilitary forces companies arrived in Ahmedabad on Thursday from New Delhi on a special plane after the state government requested assistance from the Center in the wake of the city of Ahmedabad, which closed entirely from May 7 to 15.

According to police, four companies from the Border Security Force (BSF) and one company from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) were transferred to Ahmedabad on Thursday to monitor the streets of the ancient city of Ahmedabad, which reported the highest number. of COVID-19 cases in the state. Up to 38 companies from the State Reserve Police (SRP) and paramilitary forces have been deployed in the walled city area.

“Paramilitary forces have been deployed in the Ahmedabad and Surat containment areas, where there is a high spread of infection. At the request of the Prime Minister’s request, the union government has sent companies of paramilitary forces in a special plane, “said Shivanand Jha, Gujarat Police Director General.

Since Thursday, armed companies from BSF, the Central Reserve Police (CRPF) and CISF have been deployed in the Delhi Darwaza area in the old city of Ahmedabad, where staff also held a flag march.

Paramilitary forces have been deployed in Dani Limda, Madhavpura, Isanpur, Maninagar, Asarwa, Gomtipur, and Shahibaug. A total of 57 micro containment zones have also been created in the containment zones where societies and “pols” have been sealed and blocked and the police monitor the entry and exit of all residents.

“We have BSF, CISF, SRP and CRPF companies to secure the Ahmedabad containment areas and in the microcontainment area, police personnel received Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) suits,” said Ashish Bhatia, Police Commissioner from Ahmedabad.

Police reported that all roads and bridges in Ahmedabad will be closed from 7 pm to 7 am every day until May 15.

“Strict patrols are being carried out in the containment areas and all people and vehicles entering and leaving will be verified. Medical personnel, people with emergency services and those who go to hospitals during the day will not be detained, “Jha said.
