First stage of computer-based exams from December 15


Indian Railways will conduct the first stage of computer-based examinations to fill vacancies of up to 1.40 lakh positions beginning on December 15, 2020, Chairman of the Board of Railways Vin K Yadav said today.

“Computer-based examinations will begin on December 15 for all three job categories and a detailed schedule will be announced very soon,” Yadav said.

The announcement by the Ministry of Railways came in the context of the 2020 NEET (UG) and JEE (Mains) exams that are being carried out in the midst of the pandemic and the ministry hoped to start the Railways hiring process that had been restricted due to to Covid-19. pandemic.

“Now that there is the experience of the conduct review for the JEE for IIT and NEET, it was felt that Railways may also start the process that had to be stopped due to the Covid pandemic,” the ministry said in a statement.

There are three types of vaccines previously notified by the domestic carrier. These are, 35,208 positions in popular non-technical categories (NTPC) such as guards, clerks, business employees and others, 1,663 positions for isolated and ministerial categories such as shorthand and teachers, and 1,03,769 for level one vacancies as a clue. maintainers and prominers, the ministry said in a statement.

Compared to the previous vacancies, the Railway Contracting Board had received more than 2.40 million applications.

The computer-based testing (CBT) for previous vacancies had to be postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the resulting lockdown that was imposed across the country as of March 25 to contain the spread of the virus.

Scrutiny of applications was completed, but the further examination process was delayed due to covid-related restrictions, the ministry said in a statement.

“We invited recruitment applications in various categories for 1,40,640 positions. They were notified in the pre-COVID period. The scrutiny of these applications was completed, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a computer examination could not be completed.” . Yadav said.

Railroad RRBs have committed to conducting CBT for all reported vacancies and have been actively assessing the onshore situation imposed due to the pandemic.

Standard operating procedures are being developed to conduct examinations of this magnitude.
