An FIR has been registered against Bhim’s army chief Chandrashekhar Azad and 400 others for violating Section 144 of the CrPC while visiting the relatives of the Hathras woman who died after she was allegedly attacked and assaulted brutally by four upper caste men last week.

The leader of the Azad Samaj Party and his supporters created a public order situation when they tried to enter the town on Sunday, police said.

“Police told Azad and his supporters that due to the Epidemic Disease Act and the implementation of Section 144 in the area, a large gathering is likely to facilitate the spread of the coronavirus. The police told them that the movement of ambulances and emergency services would be affected by the meeting. But the supporters sat on the roads despite orders near the Sasni police station, ”said the FIR.

The case was registered under sections 147 (riots), 341 (punishment for improper restraint), 188 (violation of public order), 269 (actions spreading disease) of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the Law of Epidemic Diseases.

On Sunday, Azad demanded a time-bound investigation by a retired Supreme Court judge into the Hathras incident and also sought protection for the relatives of the deceased.

After his visit, he told reporters: “The family is not safe in the village. When (actor) Kangana Ranaut can get category security Y, why can’t this family? The Mahapanchayats are detained every 2 km in favor of the accused. A stone throw is taking place. I want to take the family with me because they are not safe here. “

On Sunday, a mahapanchayat was held in favor of the accused near the victim’s house on the premises of the residence of a former player. So far, no FIR has been filed against the gathering of approximately 50 people.
