Final exams will be held for the semester at the University of Maharashtra; students in all previous semesters to be promoted

PUNE: Students in the last semester of the postgraduate and graduate exams must sit for the exam in July and students in previous semesters will be promoted based on the grades obtained in the previous semester in combination with the grades for the current semester. The state’s higher education minister, Uday Samant, announced on Friday afternoon that the exams will be carried out by the respective state universities, maintaining an adequate social distance and taking all necessary precautions.

Samant said that if any student has failed the grading system, he / she will continue to be promoted but will have to sit for the exam once the academic year begins. The testing schedule for these students will be announced by the respective universities, Samant said. These exams will have to be carried out within 120 days of the beginning of the academic year. The same rule applied to students who were in the Allowable Terms to Maintain (ATKT) scheme.

The new academic year, according to the guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC), will begin on September 1. The Common Access Test (CET) will be conducted for Engineering, Pharmacy, Architecture, Agriculture, Law, Hotel Management and other professional courses. between July 1 and 12, while the postgraduate common entrance test will be held in the second half of July.

These exams will be done online at designated centers, Samant said. The expert committee established by the department of education was working on the feasibility of online access tests and would be announced soon.
