NEW DELHI: Old Jammu Kashmir Prime Minister and PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti has asked the Bjp fight with it politically and “not through ED, NIA, CID”, saying that democracy is about fundamental rights.
“I want to tell all the BJP leaders who fight with me politically, not through NIA, ED and CBI. Democracy is about fundamental rights, “Mehbooba Mufti said during a press conference in Srinagar.
Mufti’s comments about the alleged abuse of central agencies come weeks after the arrest of the chairman of the youth wing of the Waheed-ur-Rehman People’s Democratic Party in the Davinder Singh terrorism case.
Suspended Jammu and Kashmir DSP Davinder Singh was arrested while transporting two terrorists from Hizb-ul-Mujahideen in a vehicle on the Srinagar-Jammu highway earlier this year.
“They have nothing to beat me with regarding corruption, so they are trying to connect me to terrorist financing through Waheed-ur-Rehman,” he said.
He also alleged that central agencies were investigating his father’s grave.
“What will you get out of these raids? What have I got? If I had something, you wouldn’t go to my father’s grave,” he said.
The ED recently also attached former J&K CM and Chairman of the People’s Alliance for the Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) Farooq AbdullahProperty worth Rs 12 crore under the Money Laundering Prevention Act in the J&K Cricket Association scam.
Attached properties include his residence on Gupkar Road in Srinagar; one in Katipora tehsil in Tanmarg and one in Jammu. One of its commercial buildings in the elegant Residency Road area of Srinagar is among the attached assets in addition to other lands.
