Two-time champion Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are involved in an exciting afternoon adventure with 2016 champion Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on October 18 at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Both teams have little confidence as SRH posted an easy defeat in their last two outings against Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK), while KKR was also beaten by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) followed by Mumbai Indians (MI ). Interestingly, both KKR and SRH desperately need a win in this match to continue their run to the playoffs.

SRH skipper David Warner won the draw and made an interesting choice to line up against Knights riders. Despite the wicket drop, KKR managed to put in a decent 163 score with the loss of 5 wickets in the 20 overs. Shubman Gill emerged as the best running back on his team with 36 of 37 deliveries, while captain Eoin Morgan and goalkeeper Dinesh Karthik broke 34 of 23 and 29 of 14 to speed up innings late.

When it comes to bowling, T Natarajan took two major wickets from Rahul Tripathi and Andre Russell, while Basil Thampi, Vijay Shankar and Rashid Khan each have one to their name. Now the Orange Army has to chase 164 runs in 20 overs to step up in the competition.

Aside from KKR’s good hitting performance and SRH’s decent bowling performance in the early innings, what caught the eye of the audience was the hairstyle worn by outfield referee Paschim Pathak. Pathak became the center of attraction on many social media sites due to her ‘Rockstar’ hairstyle.

The 43-year-old, who made his IPL debut in 2014, and officiated in eight Indian Premier League matches alongside two ODI Women’s Matches in 2012. Pathak has always managed to be in the spotlight with his unique antics. In 2015, he had registered his name as the first Indian referee to wear a helmet while refereeing in a match. The rare sight of a helmeted referee in India was recorded in one of the 2015 Vijay Hazare Trophy matches held in Karnataka.
