The Portugal star wants to win every possible title available to the Old Trafford club, but insists the entire squad must show leadership to do so.
Bruno Fernandes says he wants to win all the trophies on offer with Manchester United and says he is not happy that he did not lift a title in his first year.
United come into Saturday’s crucial game against Leicester City five points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool, one game short.
They are already out of the Champions League, but a Carabao Cup semi-final awaits them, as well as the FA Cup and the Europa League.
Fernandes has had a hugely impressive first year at Old Trafford and, speaking to BT sport , reflected on a roller coaster 2020.
“I’ve really enjoyed it,” Fernandes said. “I like it [being at] one of the biggest clubs in the world. It was a dream come true to come to the Premier League, to get to a club where I always dreamed of playing.
“Of course, it was best for me when I was able to play and enjoy my games with the fans. When I arrived, at that time it was the FA Cup and the Europa League, and we had the opportunity to get into the top four in the league.
“Unfortunately, we started in two semi-finals but we got third place in the league. The only thing I have missed this year are the trophies. I don’t have trophies for the club and that doesn’t make me happy. I hope 2021 can be better that way. “
Fernandes says he was desperate to restore the faith Ole Gunnar Solskjaer showed in him from the first day he arrived in Manchester.
“Immediately when I arrived, the confidence that the coach showed me was impressive. Immediately after two days he was playing against the Wolves after having trained one day with the team.
“You need to understand at that moment, he is trusting you, so you have to do something. It’s like Michael Jordan in his ‘The Last Dance’ series, you know? It was the first and last chance to show that he wanted to be part of this team.
“Everyone has their own way of leading the team. I think they all have leadership within them, but in different ways. Maybe my way of showing leadership is a little more expressive and people see more in me than other players, but I think at the end of the day, you have to have 25 leaders on the team if you want to win something.
“I think everything can be realistic if we believe. You make your own reality. I think the most important thing is that you have a goal and you have to hit it. My goal is to win trophies. No matter what kind of trophy it is, I want to win them all. “
