Srinagar:
The President of the National Conference, Farooq Abdullah, has called a meeting at his residence for tomorrow to define the future course of action on the ‘Gupkar Declaration’ regarding the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, which was revoked by the Center on last year.
Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and PPD Chairman Mehbooba Mufti, who was released from detention after 14 months on Tuesday, will also attend the meeting.
“My father and I called Mehbooba Mufti Sahiba to ask about his well-being after his release,” Vice President of the National Conference Omar Abdullah told reporters.
He said that the PDP leader has accepted the invitation for the meeting of signatories of the Gupkar Declaration tomorrow.
“She has kindly accepted Farooq sahib’s invitation to join a meeting of the signatories of the Gupkar Declaration tomorrow afternoon,” said Omar Abdullah.
The Gupkar Declaration is a resolution issued after an all-party meeting on August 4, 2019 at the Gupkar residence of the head of the National Conference.
The resolution at the end of the meeting on August 4, 2019, a day before the Center announced its decision to revoke Jammu and Kashmir’s special status and divide it into two Union territories, said the parties unanimously resolved that they would be united in their Effort to protect and defend the identity, autonomy and special status of Jammu and Kashmir against all attacks and assaults.
The parties had met again in August this year and vowed to fight for the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status.
