The protesting farmers have called Bharat Bandh on December 8 one day after the fourth round of talks between them and the Center did not yield the desirable result of Eliminating the agricultural laws that farmers wanted.. Farmers hold the fifth round of talks with union ministers on Saturday.
In the two meetings held among farmers on Friday, the farmers concluded that their demand to repeal the laws was “non-negotiable.” Therefore, “we have invited the whole country to hit the roads and participate in this movement from wherever they are,” said Harindar Singh Lakhowal of the Bhartiya Kisan Union. As part of the Bharat Bandh call, farmers on Tuesday are ready to “block all roads leading to Delhi,” Lakhowal said. The toll plazas will also be occupied and protests against the central government and corporate houses will intensify.
Farmers unions have also demanded convene a special session of Parliament to repeal “hastily passed” farm laws.

The left parties have extended their support for the farmers ‘call for a Bharat Bandh Saturday and have appealed to all other political parties that support the farmers’ cause to show cooperation in it.
A joint statement issued by CPI, CPI (M) and CPM (ML), the Revolutionary Socialist Party and All India Forward Bloc said: “Left parties extend their solidarity and support to the ongoing mass agitation of Kisan’s organizations. the whole country. against the new agricultural laws. Left-wing parties extend their support for the call they made for a Bharat Bandh on December 8 ”.
The protesting farmers have been constantly calling on farmers across the country to join the protesters. In addition to the parallel protests witnessed in parts of West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, among others, farmers from Maharashtra are likely to join the movement in Delhi. Farmers unions have also called on farmers from the UP and Haryana borders to join them.

Holding demonstrations for almost 10 days, the borders of Delhi have been witnessing thousands of farmers from Punjab, Haryana and other states, as the routes connecting Delhi-NCR remained closed. The border between Delhi and Haryana in Singhu, Tikri, Jharoda, Jhatikara, Auchandi, Lampur, Piao, Maniyari and Mangesh remains closed.
Other borders that have been affected so far include the Chilla border on the Noida link road, the Ghazipur border on NH-24, and the Badusarai border, which remains open only for light vehicles.
