NEW DELHI: Hardening Your position in the three new agricultural lawsPeasant leaders said Tuesday that they “will make” the government repeal these laws, and affirmed that their struggle has reached a stage where they are “determined” to win it no matter what.
They said they would completely block the Chilla Border between Delhi and Noida on Wednesday to press their demands.
Addressing a press conference at Singhu Border here, farmer leader Jagjeet Dallewal He said: “The government is saying ‘we will not repeal these laws’, we are saying that we will force them to do so.”
“The fight has reached a stage where we are determined to win whatever happens,” he said.
He also said: “We are not running away from negotiations, but the government has to attend to our demands and present concrete proposals.”
Several other peasant leaders also addressed the press conference and called on people to pay tribute on December 20 to the farmers who lost their lives during the ongoing protests.
Peasant leader Rishipal said that one farmer has died every day on average since the protest began in the last week of November.
“A Day of Tribute (Shraddhanjali Diwas) for all the farmers who lost their lives and became martyrs in the ongoing protest will be organized across the country in the villages and Tehsil headquarters on December 20 from 11 to 13” said another peasant leader.
Earlier in the day Prime Minister Narendra Modi He said the farmers gathered near Delhi are being duped as part of a conspiracy.
Speaking after laying the groundwork for some development projects in his home state of Gujarat, Modi also said his government is addressing farmers’ concerns about new farm laws.
