Farmers protests: Ghazipur and Singhu borders closed to traffic | Delhi News


NEW DELHI: The borders of Ghazipur, Singhu, among others, were closed on Tuesday for inbound traffic from Ghaziabad to Delhi in the wake farmers protests, the Delhi Traffic Police (DTP) reported on Tuesday.
“The Ghazipur border is closed to traffic coming from Ghaziabad to Delhi due to protests from farmers. People are advised to take an alternative route to get to Delhi through the borders of Anand Vihar, DND, Chilla, Apsara and Bhopra, “read the DTP tweet.

The tweet added: “The borders of Singhu, Auchandi, Piau Maniyari, Sabholi and Mangesh are closed. Please take alternate routes through the toll tax borders of the schools of Lampur, Safiabad and Singhu. Traffic has been deviated from Mukarba Road and GTK. Avoid Outer Ring Road., GTK Road, NH-44 “.

Farmers have been protesting at different borders of the national capital since November 26 against the three recently enacted agricultural laws: the Trade in Agricultural Products and Trade (Promotion and Facilitation) Act of 2020, the Farmers Agreement (Empowerment and Protection ) on Price Assurance and Agriculture. Services Act 2020 and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act 2020.
However, the central government has held several rounds of talks with farmers’ organizations, including the meeting called by the union’s interior minister, Amit Shah, offering changes to the laws and written guarantees.
