Farmers protest: Singhu and Tikri borders remain completely blocked

The traffic situation on the Delhi-Ghaziabad border and on the Delhi-Noida border remained the same on Tuesday, with normal vehicular movement for motorists leaving Delhi, but blocked for those heading towards the capital. The Singhu and Tikri borders, however, remain completely blocked due to ongoing farmer agitation.

Deputy Police Commissioner (East) Jasmeet Singh said traffic moving from Delhi to Noida is fluid as usual at the Chilla border, while the road leading to Delhi remains blocked. Farmers also continue to block one carriageway on the Delhi-Meerut elevated highway, while the other for those leaving Delhi is open, he said.

“We maintain a sufficient deployment of border security personnel to ensure law and order,” Singh said.

At the Ghazipur border, the NH-24 service lane that was blocked by farmers from November 27 onwards also continued to be closed to traffic on Tuesday.

In addition to the Chilla and Ghazipur borders, seven borders that remain completely blocked are the Singhu, Tikri, Auchandi, Jharoda, Piao Maniyari and Mangesh borders.

The traffic police have advised people to take alternate routes to enter Delhi through the Chilla, Anand Vihar, DND Flyway, Apsara and Bhopra borders. The traffic police said that the borders currently open to Haryana are the borders of Jharoda (only single carriageway), Daurala, Kapashera, Badusarai, Rajokri NH-8, Bijwasan / Bajghera, Palam Vihar and Dundahera.
