Farmers Protest, Greta Thunberg Toolkit, Rihanna Tweet: They obviously didn’t know much

Foreign Minister S Jaishankar said more details would be obtained by investigating the “toolkit”.

New Delhi:

Investigations into the “toolkit” tweeted by teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg and others in connection with the farmers’ protest – a document that police claim indicates a conspiracy behind the violence in Delhi on Republic Day – it has “revealed a lot,” said Foreign Minister S Jaishankar. said today.

Jaishankar said more details will be uncovered as the Delhi police continue their investigation, attacking “some celebrities” for speaking out on matters “they obviously didn’t know much about.”

“He has revealed a lot. We have to wait and see what else comes out. There was a reason why the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reacted to the statements that some celebrities gave on matters about which they obviously did not know much,” he said was quoted by the agency news ANI.

On Wednesday, Ms Thunberg, 18, shared a “toolbox” with ideas to show support for farmers, but many of those ideas were destined for Republic Day.

He subsequently deleted that, and the next day he shared a new link, writing “they (the people on the ground in India) deleted their old document because it was out of date.”

Yesterday, the Cyber Cell unit of the Delhi Police wrote to Google and social media companies, requesting information on email IDs, URLs and details of accounts linked to the creators of the document.

A senior police officer told the PTI news agency that the document had been created by certain people and that it was important to identify them as there was an “element of conspiracy.” He said initial investigations linked the document to the “Poetic Justice Foundation,” a pro-Khalistan group.

A day earlier, the police filed an FIR (First Information Report) against the “pro-Khalistan” creators of the document for waging a “social, cultural and economic war” against India.

Delhi police, which faced backlash online after initial reports said it had filed the FIR against Sweden’s Greta Thunberg, said its investigation was against the “toolbox” and not the teenage activist. , which has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize three years in a row.

Ms. Thunberg’s response to the reports of an FIR against her was widely praised; she wrote: “I still #StandWithLarmers and support their peaceful protest. No amount of hatred, threats or human rights violations will change that.”

Last week, Greta Thunberg joined a number of eminent personalities, including Rihanna and American model and actress Amanda Cerny, in expressing her support for farmers.

His tweets made headlines around the world and an agitated government responded with a scathing warning against the “temptation of hashtags and tabloid comments from social media.”

The tweets also sparked a pushback from Indian celebrities, several of whom, including Bollywood actors Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn, and cricketers Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane, tweeted nearly identical statements of support.

Actor Kangana Ranaut posted an abusive response to Rihanna which was later deleted by Twitter.

Thousands of farmers across India are protesting the center’s new farm laws, claiming it endangers their livelihoods by allowing big corporate companies to intimidate them.

They say these laws will endanger their livelihoods by, among other things, allowing companies to exploit them. Farmers also fear the loss of the MSP (minimum support price) system.

Today the farmers held a peaceful chakka jamming (blocking) of state and national highways in many parts of northern India.
