New Delhi:
Farmers protesting against the three farm laws today threatened to block Ghazipur’s border between Uttar Pradesh and the national capital. The warning to intensify the protests comes amid government guarantees on the minimum support price (MSP) for their agricultural products, a concern that farmers repeatedly raised. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has accused opposition parties of betraying and misleading farmers and of supporting protests to further their own agenda.
“If anyone has any concerns, then with our heads bowed, hands clasped, humbly, we are ready to allay their fears. Talking about the end of the MSP after the new laws is the biggest lie of all time. I want to assure you to all the farmers in India that the MSP is here to stay, “Prime Minister Modi said when addressing farmers in Madhya Pradesh on Friday.
Today’s protesters will also pay tribute to more than 20 people who have died since thousands began camping near Delhi’s borders since late November.
