Union agriculture minister Narendra Singh Tomar said on Wednesday that the government is ready to meet with the leaders of protesting farmers’ unions and address their concerns about the agricultural bills the center recently introduced.
Next, the leaders of 40 agricultural organizations will meet with three central government ministers: Narendra Singh Tomar, together with the Minister of Railways, Food and Consumer Affairs, Piyush Goyal, and the Minister of State for Commerce, Som Prakash. Today’s gathering at Vigyan Bhavan in Delhi is the fourth round of talks between the government and farmers.
Earlier today, Punjab’s Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had met with the Union Minister of the Interior, Amit Shah. He has urged both sides to find a solution sooner as the protests are negatively affecting Punjab’s economy.
Athletes have returned their awards to support farmers’ protests, in the midst of which former Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal had also returned his’ padma vibhushan ‘award.

Fourth round of talks between government and farmer groups ends; next round on December 5

Maharashtra farmers march in protest against farm laws
Expressing solidarity with protesting farmers in Delhi, Maharashtra farmers marched to the offices of the district tehsildars and collectors.
All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) organized the marches that included more than 80 organizations, including farm workers, trade unions and bank employees.
Shiromani chief Akali Dal asks why the center imposes agricultural laws on farmers
Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Badal said former Punjab Prime Minister Parkash Singh Badal had “fought for farmers his whole life” and returned his padma vibhushan award as a message to the central government.
He also asked, “Farmers don’t need these laws, so why is the government of India enforcing them on farmers?” as cited by ANI.
Odisha farmers protest in front of the state assembly in Bhubaneswar
Expressing support for the protests in Delhi, members of the All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee protested in front of the Odisha state assembly in Bhubaneswar on Thursday.
Union leader Praful Samantaray had said that farm laws could “destroy farmers and agriculture,” ANI reports.
Maharashtra Congress to support protesting farmers in Delhi
Maharashtra State Congress Head Balasaheb Thorat and MLC Sharad Ranpise expressed the party’s position regarding the farmers’ protest at a party meeting of MLA, MLC and MP. The party passed a resolution against the new farm laws and in support of protesting farmers, PTI reports.
