‘Farmers are treated like terrorists, attacked on the borders of Delhi’: Shiv Sena

Shiv Sena on Monday criticized the BJP-led regime’s treatment of protesting farmers, adding that it was cruel to use water cannons amid a cold snap hitting parts of northern India.

Farmers have been protesting on the Delhi borders for five days against the new farm laws and have said they will not accept any conditional dialogue and threatened to block the five entry points to the national capital.

“Our farmers are being treated as terrorists and attacked on the borders of Delhi while terrorists are killing our soldiers on the border in Kashmir,” said an editorial in Shiv Sena’s spokesman Saamana.

The Seine singled out Haryana Prime Minister Manohar Lal Khattar for claiming a link to Khalistani in the protests.

“BJP wants to create anarchy. Khalistan is a closed chapter for which Indira Gandhi and General Arunkumar Vaidya gave their lives, ”he said.

“The government is using all its might to crush political opponents, but why is this determination not seen when dealing with the enemies of the country?” He asked.

In the past month, 11 Maharashtra soldiers achieved martyrdom while fighting enemies on the borders, Seine said.

Referring to the giant statue of Sardar Patel “erected by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah” in Gujarat, the editorial said that Patel was also a farmer leader and led the agitation of many farmers against the British. “Your statue’s eyes must be wet now seeing how farmers are being treated,” he said.

Central agencies like ED and CBI are being used as weapons against political opponents, Sena said.

“These agencies should also have the opportunity to show their courage,” he said and suggested that (staff from) ED and CBI should be deployed to Ladakhand Kashmir to help the army fight against the enemies of India.
