NEW DELHI: Union Minister for the Interior Amit shah Friday said that the three agricultural laws, against which farmers have been protesting for a few weeks, are in favor of farmers and will not harm them. Saying that the Opposition is misleading farmers about the minimum price of support to farmers, Shah claimed that neither the minimum price of support will stop, nor will anyone take the land from the farmers and as long as Narendra Modi is the Prime Minister, no company can take the land from the farmers.
Shah was in the Kishangarh village of Mehrauli to hear Prime Minister Narendra ModiInteraction with farmers. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh was in Najafgarh, Onion Minister Nirmala Sitharaman was in Ranjit Nagar while Hardeep Singh Puri was in Mahavir Nagar in addition to other BJP leaders who attended the public listening of the organized interaction in different places.
“If farmers organizations feel that even a single provision of the laws will not benefit farmers, then come up with that provision, discuss about it, if there is any provision against farmers, then the Narendra Modi government is ready to consider it with an open mind. The opposition parties want to use the farmers’ protest for their own political selfishness. The top priority of the Narendra Modi government is the well-being of the farmer. Modi’s government will always work for the benefit of farmers and demonstrate its determination to double their income, “Shah said, noting that Prime Minister Modi transferred Rs 18 billion to Rs 9 million farmers accounts on Friday.
Rajnath Singh said that the Modi government will never do anything that is not in the interest of farmers and that all problems can be solved through talks. The prime minister wants the dialogue to continue with the farmers. Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan said that the opposition parties never did any work for the welfare of farmers, so they are now trying to protect their political interests by opposing these farm laws.
Explaining how the Modi government has worked for the well-being of farmers, Shah said: “Before Narendra Modi became PM, the production of food grains was 265 million tons in 2013-14 and today the credit of reaching that production increased to 296 million farmers. “Shah added that during the congressional regime in 2013-14, the budget for farmers was 21,900 crore rupees, which has increased to 1.34 lakh crore rupees.
“The leaders of the Opposition do not have a relevant issue, so they are spreading lies that the MSP is going to end, while the PM has made it clear that the MSP was, is and will always continue. The opposition has no right to speak about MSP, for years farmers had demanded that the MSP rate be one and a half times higher than the agricultural yield, but for 70 years this demand was not met by the congressional government. Under Modi, between 2014 and 2019, the demand was met, which was a great relief for farmers, ”said Shah.
“Between 2009-2014, Rs 3.7 million lakh crore was spent on the purchase of rice and wheat. Modi raised it to Rs 8.2 lakh crore between 2014-2019 to buy rice and wheat. Under Modi government, many schemes such as Mudra Swasthya Yojana, Yojana Soil Health Card have been introduced and black marketing of ‘yuriya’ was abolished by adding 1000 mandis online, farmers across the country got the highest price , 6.5 crore farmers benefited from Pradhan Mantri Fasal Beema Yojana, 10,000 agricultural producer organizations were formed for which 7 billion rupees were spent, 500 million rupees were spent on honey production, 55 lakh of land was extracted through Pradhan Mantri Sichai Yojana, ”Shah said explaining the works that the Modi government has done for the well-being of farmers.
