On Monday, the opposition criticized the Punjab government for failing to introduce a bill to counter the Center’s new agricultural laws on the first day of a special session of the assembly, which also saw a dharna in the House by the MLA of the AAP.
Former Acting Minister of Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Manpreet Singh Badal He said the state government is consulting constitutional experts on the issue of legislation to counter the new farm laws and added that copies of various bills to be introduced during the two-day session will be delivered to opposition parties by the night.
Even after the adjournment of the Monday afternoon session, AAP legislators continued their dharna, demanding copies of the bill to counter legislation enacted by the Center.
Late at night, the leader of the opposition and leader of the AAP, Harpal Cheema, said: “We will sit here all night and continue the protest, as we still have copies of this and other bills to be presented. during the session.
“AAP will support legislation against farm laws, but the government should have given us their copies. We also do not have copies of other invoices. How can our legislators discuss and debate important issues? Cheema said.
